Polish artist Michał Budny constructs sculptures out of cardboard and paper. He translates everyday objects, natural forms or intangible, personal memories onto paper and cardboard. Items such as maps, mobile phones, books or CD players are cut out of simple cardboard, folded and glued in the same accurate manner as cacti or fantasy dream castles. The result is an alternative world in papery minimalistic aesthetic that opens the view through the mundane to the poetic and existential. Michał Budny’s objects are “models for mental use”, catalysts for a multifaceted view of our direct surroundings.
