Artists participating in the project are: Lara Almarcegui, Hannes Böck, Cäcilia Brown, Werner Feiersinger, Andreas Fogarasi, Daria Koltsova, Little Warsaw, Markéta Othová, Bianca Pedrina, Nick Relph, Iris Touliatou and Christoph Weber. The cycle of construction and destruction, of usefulness and decay, has always been intrinsic to building culture. Twelve Austrian and international artists engage – both conceptually and formally – with materials such as concrete, stone, wood, metal, and glass: materials that shape and structure our built environment. Through their artistic and research-based practices, they draw attention to those essential components of our surroundings that often go largely unnoticed due to their seeming self-evidence. Within the exhibition spaces, however, it is not only the material foundations of architecture that come into focus, but also the social and ecological dimensions embedded within them.
